James and Stevanie Helterbran, with their daughter Bethany, have given their lives to carrying the gospel to Tanzania, East Africa.
Tanzania is home to more than sixty million people and dozens of language groups, many of whom have never once heard the name of Christ preached in their own tongue. That need is what first turned our hearts east.

A short introduction to who we are, where God has called us, and what the work in Tanzania looks like.
Missionary work is a family calling. Here is a little about each of us.
James was saved at age 16 and has served faithfully through the ministries of Marion Avenue Baptist Church. He surrendered his life to God’s service in 2022 and later graduated from Hyles-Anderson College. After participating in a missions trip to Liberia and Sierra Leone, God directed James and his family toward missionary service in Tanzania, East Africa.
Stevanie was saved at age 16 and has served the Lord through Sunday School, soul winning, bus visitation, and the bus ministry at Marion Avenue Baptist Church. In 2024, she traveled to Tanzania and assisted with the annual Stadium Crusade hosted by Faith Baptist Church. She looks forward to serving alongside James as they help reach Tanzania for Christ.
Bethany is our young daughter and the newest member of our missionary family. Together, we are preparing to serve the Lord in Tanzania, East Africa.
